Calciphylaxis

Calciphylaxis (kal-sih-fuh-LAK-sis), also called Calcific Uremic Arteriolopathy (CUA) is a rare and often fatal condition characterized by vascular calcification in fat and skin tissues that causes painful skin ulcers. It may lead to serious infections and even death.

Usually, patients with Calciphylaxis have a history of kidney failure, dialysis or a recent kidney transplant.However, it may also occur in people without kidney disease.
