Dermatologist Questions Acne

Is it common to have burning sensation after acne peeling treatment?

I recently underwent an acne peeling treatment, however after 4 sittings I am having a lot of burning sensation particularly around my forehead. Is it normal or should I speak to my treating doctor?

Peeling is burning of your surface skin with acid. It is very difficult to control the depth of burning accurately with acid. Burning too deeply will cause burns and scars, too. Best to consult a dermatologist FIRST and only go to physicians qualified ie experienced in this procedure. Many non-medical beauticians use this procedure to treat and it can result in severe burns, scarring, blindness, etc. There are safer procedures available. Talk to a derm familiar with your skin type.
Itching can be part of healing BUT you could be allergic to those acne peeling chemicals. Consult a dermatologist. General doctors would just give you cortisone to stop the itch.
