Dentist Questions Cracked Tooth

How do you stop a cracked tooth from hurting?

I'm 32, and I cracked my tooth recently and now it hurts really bad. I can't go to the dentist until the end of the week because he's on vacation. Is there anything I can do with the pain?

Try to keep pressure off of it, avoid crunchy foods, get an over-the-counter night guard, short-term only!!! Find an emergency dentist.
Try salt water rinses, ibuprofen or tylenol, whatever you take for a headache.  You can try clove, or clove oil, putting that on the tooth.  Get an xray and see what is going on.  it may need a root canal or removal, depending on severity of break.
Yes! Go to another dentist for some temporary relief until your dentist returns. Don't wait.
The only way to stop pain from a fractured tooth is by having it repaired by a dentist. The only other way is to take pain medication such as Motrin.
If you are able to take an NSAID (e.g., Ibuprofen or Aleve), these medications may help. Soft diet, nothing hard and crunchy is also recommended.
