What is the best children's medicine for cough and cold?

My son is 5 years old. I want to know what is the best children's medicine for cough and cold?

No medications are recommended for cough less than 6 yrs unless they have asthma or if cough is allergy induced. If it's a viral induced cough, it has to run its course. You can try honey.
For a cold, I recommend Sudafed.
It depends on why they are coughing. If they have clear nasal drainage and cough when they lay back dimetapp dm or generic is good to stop the drainage and cough. If it a spasmatic cough that needs to be loosened, some like mucinex can loosen the cough and help it clear. If they have asthma they need to use the rescue inhaler
