Can I take 12mg Tamsulosin for Enlarged Prostate, Safely?

For the last year, I've been taking 8mg Tamsulosin daily for an enlarged prostate. In the last couple of weeks, I've had problems being able to urinate, sometimes up to 8 hours at a time. I have a PSA of 19 but have not had a biopsy. Can I safely increase my dose of Tamsulosin to 12mg, and would it help me urinate more freely?

If you have not responded to .8 mg of tamsulosin than other alternative methods should be entertained to treat bladder outlet obstruction voiding symptoms. If your PSA is 19 you should have a biopsy of the prostate as a transrectal ultrasound guided biopsy. However with your age you must consider if cancer is identified will it change any treatments.
That is not safe. I would recommend speaking with your primary care provider about this.
