Hello,

A partial denture can if the clasp arms around a specific tooth is rubbing the gum, making the gum sore. A complete denture can cause atrophy of the bony ridge over time, especially if one has osteoporosis.

Thank you,

Yes, dentures are retained by the close fit to the underlying gum and bone. Since dentures apply pressure this will produce resorption and re-modeling of the structures that are covered by dentures. Eventually, a RELYNE procedure will be indicated. This is more usually seen with new dentures.
yes
Gingival recession happens around natural teeth. Once the teeth are removed, recession is not a question anymore. Denture refers to edentulous state, no teeth. After the teeth are removed and you are wearing a complete denture, the bone and gums under the denture keep remodeling and shrinking over the lifetime of the dentures.
A complete denture does not cause gingival recession. If it is a Removable Partial Denture it may cause some gingival recession around where the remaining teeth are supported the RPD.
Yes. Dentures transmit and incredible amount of pressure to the supporting gum and underlying bone. Over time this causes the gums and bone to shrink and recede . Not only will the denture get looser by the rate of recession will increase over time. Please consider a better alternative like dental implants that preserve your gum and bone levels.
The bone that holds the teeth in place is there because the teeth are there. When the teeth are removed the bone gradually resorbs; goes away. The bone is there because the teeth are there. When all the teeth are lost, for whatever reason, the bone that supported the teeth and formed the ridge is gradually lost and the patient loses the "ridge" that once held the denture in place. The presence of the denture probably only hastens this bone loss or what you call gum recession.
Dentures need to be evaluated every year or so to determine if they need to be adjusted or lined. As we age bone tends to recede and they should be relined for a tighter fit.
