An endoscopy usually takes up to 30 minutes, then usually, you will be in recovery for about an hour. You do not need to stay in the hospital after the recovery period if there are no complications from the procedure or the anesthesia. If you would like to go home after the recovery period, you will need to make arrangements to have someone take you home as you will not be able to drive for 24 hours.
