Pathologist (Pediatric) Questions Juvenile Arthritis

How is juvenile arthritis diagnosed in teens?

My 14-year-old daughter has really bad joint pain, and I know that something is up. We have rheumatoid arthritis in our family and I somewhat see the same symptoms in her. How is arthritis diagnosed in teens?

Arthritis is diagnosed in the pediatric population based on their exam. No blood test can diagnose it. I recommend going to your primary care physician first and then determine if seeing a pediatric rheumatologist is warranted.
It depends when it started. There are labs to do.
