Psychiatrist Questions Schizophrenia

Should my son be going to counseling for schizophrenia?

My son was diagnosed with schizophrenia in his early teens, and has been managing it with medication. It actually runs in my family. So I'm a little familiar with it because my own mother had schizophrenia. But, I'm wondering, alongside taking these medications should he also be going to therapy? Will therapy also help him?

Absolutely would help him with the right therapist. I feel one third are useless and the other third is just not capable. But that’s just my observation, lol. He really could use someone professional to keep him focused on the right way of being. Once a month is great. If you have no insurance then I can understand
