Are you put to sleep for a bone graft?

I will have a dental bone graft. Are you put to sleep for a bone graft?

It is not absolutely necessary. Deep sedation is almost given by oral sugeons, but many practitioners use mild oral sedation( or none) and local anesthetics.
Hi, yes.
Bone grafting is done after an extraction and you would be numb for that procedure beforehand.
Usually not. Simple procedure is done with a local anesthetic.
That depends on you and your surgeon.  Many bone graft procedures really do not merit the increased risks associated with sedation because they are so quick and easy. There are some that may at least warrant a discussion of the benefits of sedation for the procedure.
You do not have to be put to sleep to have bone grafting. It can be done painlessly under local anesthesia and many times bone grafting is not even necessary.
Sedation is possible.
Oral surgeons offer a range of anesthetic options including local anesthesia +/- nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or intravenous sedation. The anesthetic choice will depend on the nature of the bone grafting procedure, your medical history, and your preference, as well as the surgeon's preference.
