Can a gum recession around crown be fixed?

I have a gum recession around the crown. Can a gum recession around the crown be fixed?

First you would want to figure out what is causing the recession and then you can have a free gingival graft to cover the root
Good question - Recession around crowns is common, especially if the crowns were placed years prior and/or proper oral hygiene instructions were not given or improper oral hygiene practices/care have exacerbated/accelerated the recession. Recession is usually irreversible. It is highly dependent on where the recession/crown is located in the mouth, and the amount of recession and current health of the surrounding bone and tissue in the area. Recession may be addressed or "fixed" with possible bone grafts and gingival grafting, some recession areas can be corrected with periodontal surgery to move the gums/gingiva higher to a more favorable and aesthetic position. Each case varies and is highly dependent on the location and current health of the surrounding tissues and bone. In most common cases, general recession over the years with the increasing age of existing crowns/veneers and the increasing age of patient, and possible over-aggressive brushing in the area, usually will need to be corrected by simply replacing the existing crowns/veneers with new, more aesthetic, all-porcelain crown/veneers that will once again restore the tooth attractively to the gum-line. All-porcelain crowns have no metal cores, and no "dark metal lines/ridges" or unaesthetic metal margins at the gum-line. And even when/if future recession may occur, all-porcelain crown/veneers will continue to look aesthetically pleasing and natural much moreso as a "normal" anatomically correct, recessed tooth would naturally appear, with no dark lines or margins at the gum line.
