Many disorders can be treated without medication, depending on the nature and severity of the problem. Mild and or situational anxiety as well as depression, responds very well to behavioral interventions.
Hello - The short answer is YES! Many methods are successful - like shoes, they have to fit YOU. From cognitive behavioral practice to meditation to hypnosis to exercise and more. I suggest you find a good consultant for an evaluation and referral. Try one method - a few times is enough to know - and then another if that didnt work. Recently I had a person contact me who had tried one method with no success and then tried hypnosis which was miraculous for her. The opposite could be true for someone else! Good luck! Anxiety can be managed with medication. It can help reduce the symptoms while therapy can help you understand the underlying cause and give you tools to cope with it more effectively Nicole Grunzke, PsyDLP 9522101360
Hello, The answer to your question is not straightforward. Depending on the level of anxiety, and what is causing it, as well as a number of other factors all have to be examined. It depends on acuity( how long have you been anxious), and is also mediated by other factors such as environment ( do you have a good support system, a safe place to live). To your specific point: yes, anxiety can be controlled with medication. But, its always best to use medication and therapy to learn coping strategies to handle your anxiety. This is the most optimal combination, except in the case where the anxiety is secondary to an acute stressor, that is transient by definition( a move to a new home, or a change in life which is normal, but acutely stressful). In cases like that, a small amount of medication for a short period of time often works to decrease the anxiety. Kind Regards Brooke E Hillary ph.D. cognitive-behavior therapy offers many strategies to control anxiety without medications.
Yes it can if it is situational. CBT for Anxiety works well. However, if their is a family hx and possible chemical imbalance than I would recommend a psych. eval.
