If it is viral, then it will resolve itself and its supportive measures like Motrin as needed and salt water gargles. If the tonsil infection is caused by strep, then she may need antibiotics.
it depends on the cause behind the tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils) - bacterial causes - such as strep - require antibiotics - viral causes get better with time and only treatment is for pain control and to keep the child well hydrated.
