Hi, sorry about the ankle. I'd start with RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate. This should hopefully ease your symptoms; if it doesn't start to improve after a few days I'd see a doctor. Hope this helps!
Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, NSAIDS, Ankle brace. 10-20% of ankle sprains are actually ankle fractures and must be evaluated and treated by a foot and ankle specialist
There are different degrees of ankle sprains. I would recommend you begin with RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation). I would schedule an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for evaluation and treatment, also to make sure if is not more than a sprain.
Treatment for ankle sprains vary. It depends on the degree of sprain. Mild sprains to be treated with anti-inflammatory medication, ice, elevation and reduction in activity. Sometimes an ankle brace can be used to help stabilize the joint and reduce stress on injured ligaments. If there is a tear, then this would be treated completely different. I recommend getting your ankle evaluated by a physician. Jonathan M. Kletz, DPM Texas Foot WorksDallas, Athens and Gun Barrel City Texas214-340-8885
Best treatment is Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Better known as RICE
Immobilization.
