My daughter is overweight. What problems can being overweight cause a child?

Problems include everything from an increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, joint problems and abnormalities with development among other diseases. The greatest problem I see is a dramatic drop in self-esteem and self -confidence. It is a child when we develop our self-esteem and if that suffers, we spend a lifetime trying to get the foundation that we never build as a child.
