Psychiatrist Questions Antidepressants

What are the best antidepressants for weight loss?

Because of my weight, I've been in a depression that I just can't seem to get out of. Are there any antidepressants that you prescribe that help weight loss and depression?

Unfortunately, there are no antidepressants that are good for weight loss. The most commonly used that is not “supposed” to cause weight gain is wellbutrin, however, if anxiety is present, you need to be careful because it can worsen it. The best thing that we do in our practice is combine treatment with acupuncture, which can help with both.
Many antidepressants can cause weight gain. Least likely to do so are buproprion and Prozac.
