Mary Tyler Moore was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 33 years old. She regulated her blood sugar with her own syringes of insulin, and was the chairman of the JDRF and testified in Congress for diabetes research in 2009. Moore also wrote a book entitled, Growing Up Again: Life, Loves and Oh Yeah, Diabetes" and discussed her experience while living with the condition.
