At the age of 15, Ben Coker's mother noticed him urinating frequently and always feeling thirsty. So, she had him checked and he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Now that he plays soccer, he learned to manage his blood sugar by balancing his carbohydrates and insulin doses. He wears an insulin pump to regulate his levels, but he removes it once he plays.
