Arianna Huffington Is Changing Sleep One Snooze at a Time

One of the pervasive effects of living in a stressful world today is having lesser quality sleep. Scientifically speaking, sleep has been defined as a body and mind condition where the nervous system becomes fairly inactive or dormant. Sleep is the period where the body tries to recuperate and reboot its systems and practically improves the person’s overall health and vigor. Many take sleep for granted. We stay up late, sleep in, and ignore the sleep disorders that keep us up at night. But, now, the Huffington Post's Editor-in-Chief is trying to change it.

As Huffington Post's editor-in-chief and co-founder, Arianna Huffington has published the bestseller Thrive, which coined the term “sleep revolution”. In her book Thrive, Huffington retold her own story of physical exhaustion as the price she had to pay in aiming for success.

As she dealt with her experience of burnout, she kept realizing repeatedly that sleep is essential for daily functioning. Her intentions behind her book is to show that sleep actually serves as an entrance to attain a more fulfilling life.

The Sleep Revolution: Transforming Your Life, One Night at a Time

Realizing that she needed a fuller and in-depth study of the benefits of sleep, Huffington released a new book entitled, The Sleep Revolution: Transforming Your Life, One Night at a Time. Huffington realized that sleep is one of the most precious things in life that we do not get enough of, so she discusses and explores the importance of sleep and a person's overall well-being.

Huffington has admitted that she has found it difficult to allow herself to sleep properly, mostly because she feared that she would miss out. This thought led to her belief that sleep deprivation is a global crisis. In trying to get better sleep, her therapist has actually helped her greatly and pushed her to make as much time as she can to sleep.

Why is the sleep revolution so revolutionary?

In the context of Arianna’s book, backed up by some credible studies, she explains in detail why and how sleep is revolutionary in itself, and how a burnt-out society could become a group of well-honed individuals capable of achieving success without putting their health at risk.
