NY Mets Legend Buddy Harrelson Faces the Biggest Battle of His Life: Alzheimer's
Even tying his shoes and keeping a conversation have become a challenge.
Suddenly, simple tasks like tying shoes are hugely challenging. Harrelson met this issue head-on just recently when his daughter, Kassie, had to help him to tie his laces. Buddy simply forgot how to do it. After a few minutes of talking, people who meet with Buddy can see that sparkling personality within him beginning to dim.
Buddy is still able to talk, but back-and-forth conversations, even with people he enjoys talking to, only last for a few sentences. The combination of the disease and the self-imposed pressure not to mess up any words leaves the conversations halting and uneasy.
