Nick Cannon on Living with Lupus: "Take it One Day at a Time."

Kristen Johnston has a rare form of lupus that affects her spinal cord

Third Rock from the Sun star Kristen Johnston was not diagnosed with lupus until she was 46 years old. She was diagnosed with lupus myelitis, which is a rare form of lupus that affects her spinal cord. Johnston said that she first noticed the signs when she was struggling to climb up stairs. It took 17 different doctors and months of invasive tests, Johnston received her final diagnosis and started to treat it with chemotherapy and steroids. Six months after treatment, her lupus went into remission. Her diagnosis came out after years of addiction to drugs and alcohol, and while she was coping with her severe symptoms, media outlets accused her of using, when that wasn't the case.
