Nick Cannon on Living with Lupus: "Take it One Day at a Time."

Seal shares his battle with lupus through his music

Everyone might know Seal for the scars on his face. While the media and critics started terrible rumors around his scars, they were really caused by a form of lupus known as Discoid Lupus Erythematous (DLE). He started showing symptoms of DLE when he was just 23 years old. Not only did DLE cause the scars on his face, but it also caused him to experience hair loss. When left untreated, DLE could cause intense inflammation in sun-exposed areas of the skin, which results in the same scars that Seal has. Right now, Seal's condition is in remission.
