Shannen Doherty Discusses Her Breast Reconstruction Surgery
For Shannen, remission meant hope, but she remained realistic
Luckily, Doherty had amazing support from her husband, family, friends, and her team of doctors along the way and in the two years since her diagnosis, she received positive news in April of 2017 that her cancer is in remission. She decided to share her exciting news with her fans on an Instagram post that read - “Moments. They happen. Today was and is a moment. What does remission mean? I heard that word and have no idea how to react. Good news? YES. Overwhelming. YES. Now more waiting.” Although she is optimistic about the news, Doherty stated that she is well aware that recurrences happen all the time and that her battle with the disease is far from over. “As every single one of my fellow cancer family knows, the next five years is crucial,” she wrote.
