The Good News: There are Plenty of Tasteful Drinks without the Worry

Fortunately, there are countless alternatives to sugary, artificial sodas or plain water all the time.

When possible, whole fruit and homemade smoothies are better than fruit juices at the store which can be loaded with added sugar, artificial sweeteners, or flavors. Low-fat, minimally sweetened yogurt and milk can even be added for a milkshake texture and for nutrients like calcium and protein. Well-known fruits to blend include bananas, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, and pineapple, but others can be experimented with. Vegetable smoothies are another idea, and include spinach, carrots, pumpkin, and squash. Anything can be blended, and the combinations are infinite!

Other than smoothies, some alternative drinks are carbonated water, hot or cold tea, coffee, and water with fruit like lemons or herbs such as mint in it.
