In their article “Nutrition Therapy in End-Stage Lung Disease” researchers explain that nutritional support is essential in patients with lung diseases. They ascertain that the best treatment includes a combination of proper nutrition coupled with a pulmonary rehabilitation program. According to Uptodate the impaired nutrition in people with CF can result in bone disease. This is due to calcium, phosphorous, vitamin K, and vitamin D insufficiencies. They recommend that patients strive to consume adequate amounts of these nutrients to help prevent bone disease.
