Healthy, Easy Gluten-Free Recipes and Tips for Children

When making lunch, keep protein in mind

Even when you're gluten-free, you must keep protein in mind. These are some foods that have large amounts of protein in them:

  • Fresh meats, without excess red meat
  • Fish and seafood
  • Eggs
  • Milk and other dairy but not in excess
  • Legumes and other beans
  • Nuts

It is also important to know what kind of food should be avoided. If you're confused about what foods your child should eat and avoid, consult with your child's gastroenterologist. Your child's sensitivity may be different than others. Most children with celiac disease are not even able to eat things that have been cooked in the same pan as something else that has gluten. For example, cooking gluten-free pasta in a pot that once cooked flour pasta.

It's critical to keep these things in mind when making meals for your child.
