Soups, canned goods, and even frozen foods are fine. But, look for items low in sodium
- Soups and canned goods should include diced, or whole peeled tomatoes, tuna or salmon packed in water, low-sodium soups, diced green chilies, and black, kidney or garbanzo beans, split peas, and lentils.
- Frozen foods are nice to have on hand. Pick up frozen vegetables that have no sauces included and choose frozen fruits without added sugar. Pre-portioned and low-fat ice cream or frozen yogurt is perfect and make sure stock up on whole grain waffles.
