Popular Diets That Don't Work

The Dukan Diet was Kate Middleton's Pre-wedding Choice

Made famous by Kate Middleton before her wedding, the Dukan Diet was developed by a Pierre Dukan, a French general practitioner and nutritionist, in 2000. The diet requires you to eat an unlimited amount of food that is approved. These approved foods are limited in carbohydrates and forces the body to burn the fat that you have. The diet requires you to follow three phases, which are unlimited protein, vegetables, and then starches and carbs. Then, in the fourth phase, you can eat anything that you want, as long as you have one day with just all protein. So, does it work? Yes, you can lose a significant amount of weight through this diet, maybe even achieving your weight loss goal in the process. But, when you go back to eating normally, you may just gain it all back.

Currently, the downside of this diet is that it does not have any life-long benefits and habits, and that it is entirely goal oriented. With the Dukan diet, you must stay in your phase until you can achieve that goal, which may be bad for you in the long-run if you're in a phase for a long period of time.
