Don't completely avoid whole grains
Though many of us have heard that carbs are not good for you, whole grains are very nutritious, and contain antioxidants, fiber, polyphenols, and vitamin B. Whole grain versions of our carb favorites include wheat bread, brown rice, and brown rice pasta, which can actually reduce risk of cancer, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. Studies have found that people who eat 7 servings of whole grain every day had less chronic conditions and lower mortality during the study periods. Even simply eating 1-2 daily servings showed some health benefits.
