This Test Accurately Diagnoses Celiac Disease For Those Already Gluten-Free

The commercial initiatives that are needed

Dr. Sarna said the new test was more accurate in excluding, instead of confirming, the presence of celiac disease in the diagnosis of people sensitive to gluten. While additional research is needed, Dr. Sarna said the test can be used in excluding the disease among people following a gluten-free diet. Even as the test is not yet available in the market, Sarna is hoping their research will result in commercial initiatives to make it available to the general public.

Some members of the research team applied for patents on the new celiac disease test with a number revealing that they work as consultants for some companies. The Research Council of Norway paid for the clinical trial of the new test.
