What is the Flat Belly Diet?

What is the Flat Belly Diet?

There are three basic rules for the flat belly diet:

  • Each meal should have about 400 calories
  • Meals should be separated by no more than four hours
  • Every meal should have one serving of monounsaturated fats (MUFs)

MUF is the secret ingredient in the diet that is supposed to melt the fat from the belly region. These fatty acids are found in olives, avocados, nuts, seeds, soybeans, flax seeds, and sunflower oil. MUFs leave an individual feeling full longer, and burns calories effectively.

The flat belly diet is a one-month (28 days) plan, and starts with a four-day diet program called the anti-bloat jump start. During this stage, one consumes between 1,200 to 1,400 calories per day; this helps to reduce bloating, improve confidence, and prepares the body for healthy eating habits. Dieters will have about two liters of 'sassy water’, which contains herbs, spices, citrus, and cucumber, all of which reduces bloating, constipation, and sluggishness.

This stage is followed by one-month flat belly diet. Total calorie intake for the day is divided into four 300 to 400 calorie meals. This diet plan is a highly flexible one, and can be customized to the needs of different groups, like vegetarians, people who are lactose intolerant, and those who have specific food allergies. Each meal will have a serving of MUF without fail. Dieters can choose from a list of different types of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. The diet includes plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, lean protein, olive oil, seeds, and nuts.

This plan has the right ingredients of a healthy diet, like vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and other nutrient-rich foods. Moreover, it is healthy because it includes heart healthy fatty acids, such as MUFs. One can individualize the diet plan based on the requirement as well. This diet seems to be appropriate for developing healthy eating habits and losing weight gradually. The flat belly diet keeps exercise just as an option; adding physical activity will lead to weight loss faster.
