The Benefits of Leafy Greens for Multiple Sclerosis Patients

Kaempferol's importance in our daily diet

There is much controversy over nitrates in the diet, but fruits, vegetables and cereals naturally contain nitrates. Farmers add different types of fertilizers, these can add toxic chemicals to the outside skin of the vegetables and fruits, in addition to nitrates found in the fertilizer. However, natural nitrates are important to our health and can be found in nearly every fruit or vegetable in your local grocery store.

Kaempferol is another nutrient that is found in our foods and is currently being studied as a potential cancer treatment. This nutrient helps prevent cancers and cell damage which is imperative to any MS patient. Kaempferol can be found in grapes, tomatoes, green tea, onions, broccoli, potatoes, Brussels sprouts, squash, cucumbers, lettuce, green beans, peaches, blackberries, raspberries, spinach, and apples.
