Beware of Dietary Supplements: A Warning for Celiac Disease Patients

Research

According to Benjamin Lenwohl, one of the authors of the research and a director of clinical research at the Columbia Celiac Center, the biggest problem is the false sense of security that these supplements promise to the patients with celiac disease. He also said that medication may be available in the future, but until that day comes, commercially available supplements should not be a substitute.

The researchers have also found out that a lot of celiac patients search these supplements on Google. Hence, they asked the Food and Drug Administration to manage these supplements and also encouraged the physicians to ask their patients if they are taking these dietary supplements.
