Number 1: White Rice
White rice has been considered as a staple food in almost all countries in Asia. It provides a lot of health benefits like providing energy to the body and promoting the growth of the muscles. However, according to the studies conducted by the Harvard University, eating white rice regularly and in a large amount is not good for people with diabetes. Unfortunately, white rice has a high glycemic index, which is also known as a fast carb food. This means that white rice can be quickly broken down into sugar in the body. This may contribute to the rise of the body’s sugar level, thus increasing the risk of having type 2 diabetes.
Alternative food: Instead of having white rice as the main food for an everyday meal, replace it brown rice which is considered a healthier alternative to white rice as it has a less glycemic index.
