Trail mix: It may look healthy on paper, but only those nuts are safe

Those trail mix bags you see in the stores? Stay away from those. The only healthy part for diabetics are the nuts, and even so, nuts should be in moderation because they are high in calories. Store-bought trail mix also contains a large dose of dried fruits. The dehydration process for fruits actually causes their natural sugars to be concentrated. And, because the portions in trail mixes are big, it's easy to eat way too much.

It's easy to find all of your favorites to make a low-carb mix of sunflower seeds, walnuts, soy nuts, roasted peanuts and almonds, with unsweetened coconut. Also, eat nuts in moderation, this will help reduce your blood glucose and lower the risk of heart disease.
