Everyone has different levels of tolerating new things including getting used to braces or attachments associated with orthodontic treatment. We always recommend taking your preferred over the counter pain medicine and rinsing with salt water to lessen the discomfort associated with orthodontic treatment.

The fibers in the gums do have a tendency to pull the teeth back to their original position that is why we recommend lifetime retention. If the retainers are getting noticeable tight then it means that you may not be wearing your retainers long enough. Full time wear or wearing minimally 12 hours per night may be indicated.
My daughter’s middle tooth seems to be out of line from the remaining teeth. Can this be corrected with braces?
