How long is the recovery after a carpal tunnel release?

You will be using your hand for light tasks and activities of daily life right away. More strenuous activity or gripping/weight bearing will take a few weeks typically.

Occupational therapy for carpal tunnel?

Occupational therapy is not usually helpful for CTS. Nighttime bracing is useful. And a cortisone shot could be considered if symptoms are severe enough.

I have sharp, shooting pain in my fingers when I type. What could be wrong?

Usually, this is just bad ergonomics. But in a nutshell, take frequent breaks. Stretch your forearms frequently. Get up and walk around. Exercise at lunch and eat healthy!

If it is from arthritis, it's probably advisable to leave this alone. However, if it’s a functional impairment, there are surgical options.

Pain is normal for several weeks after surgery. Routine follow up should be fine.
