Dr. Peter M. Farrugia is a board-certified interventional cardiologist who treats patients at Advanced Heart and Vascular of Central Jersey, located in Colts Neck, New Jersey.

Dr. Peter M. Farrugia's academic journey began at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a dual degree in Biology and Molecular Biology. During his time there, he distinguished himself by publishing research on advanced molecular techniques. Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Farrugia embarked on his medical education at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He then undertook postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at SUNY Stony Brook before pursuing a Cardiovascular Fellowship at St Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan, where he specialized in Radial Artery Catheterization and began his training in Endovascular techniques. Later, he completed his Interventional Cardiology Training at Winthrop University Hospital on Long Island.

After honing his skills, Dr. Farrugia spent 8 years at Barnabas Health Medical Group, where he served as the Director of Outpatient Vascular Medicine and the Chief of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Monmouth Medical Center. Inspired by his experiences, he founded a cardiac and vascular practice centered on dismantling corporate barriers to care and prioritizing the physician-patient relationship. Dr. Farrugia's dedication extends beyond medicine; he is a proud first-generation American of Maltese descent and a devoted husband and father to four children. Alongside his wife, he pursues interests in ballroom dancing, achieving certification up to Bronze Level 3 in several dances. Additionally, Dr. Farrugia actively coaches little league baseball, basketball, and softball, embodying a commitment to both his family and community.
