Hello,

My suggestion would be to see a local chiropractor to get your spine checked. Even though it was a low speed impact, there is a lot of trauma that happens to the body. Many times, symptoms don't show up for days or weeks later. Getting your spine back in proper alignment along with some muscle work will go a long way in helping you feel better.

Good luck!

The decision whether to or to not take x-rays is all dependent upon the practitioner. Some chiropractors take x-rays on every patient regardless of the issue and some don't take any. Most of the time x-rays are taken to rule out conditions such as what your chiropractor did. I personally decide whether I'm taking x-rays or not based on the case and history of the patient. Technique can also play a factor when deciding on whether to take x-rays or not. The more aggressive the technique the more likely x-rays will be taken. Therefore it just depends on the chiropractor when it comes to taking x-rays. I hope this helps!

Most definitely! One of the things chiropractic adjustments do is help restore motion to that area of the spine. With this restoration of motion you'll see less tightness and less discomfort in that area. As with any chiropractic adjustments consistency is the key to see long lasting results. I would also recommend continuing with the massage work as that helps focus on those tight muscles. I hope this helped answer your question.

Is it bad to suddenly stop chiropractic care?

Regular adjustments definitely help to prevent issues before they happen. but this doesn't necessarily mean you'll have an issue. Many patients only come in when they are in some sort of pain. That can be dealt with as well, but my advice is always trying to prevent that problem from occurring in the first place. If you've been seeing a chiropractor regularly for 5 years, this means you know your body well. My suggestion is that if you feel something isn't right, you get in touch with your chiropractor as soon as possible to have it checked. Don't let a small problem become a much larger one. If insurance coverage is an issue, talk with your doctor. Most chiropractors will work with you in regards to payment, we'd rather you get some care then no care at all. I hope this helps.
