Dr. Barbara A. Tarnoski, D.M.D.
Dentist | General Practice
Dr. Tarnoski practices at Philadelphia Dental Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry, LLC. This office offers LANAP and LAPIP Laser Services. These services use the Periolase MVP-7 Laser(TM). This laser, was built specifically to treat gum disease of natural teeth (LANAP) and gum disease of implants (LAPIP). The unique wavelength targets the bacteria that causes gum disease but uses a minimally invasive, BUT highly effective treatment. With LANAP and LAPIP there is no cutting/no sewing. There is less pain. This laser stimulates YOUR OWN BODY's STEM CELLS. Your body rebuilds its own supporting tooth structures to the best of its ability. THIS IS "YOUR SECOND CHANCE" to start with a mouth free of all gum disease bacteria. All gum disease bacteria is gone in one treatment!
Good mouth care is now your future. Mouth bacteria, gum disease bacteria, are not just staying in your mouth. The research shows, bacteria in your mouth gets into your bloodstream and is traveling to your brain, liver, pancreas, kidneys, joints, bladder, (etc.). Gum Disease and ALZHEIMER'S--There is a relationship. Inflamed arteries and veins, uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, High blood sugar, Pancreatic Cancer, all have a relationship. A high percentage of these patients have or had gum disease.
Our office helps patients develop a mouth care plan. No flossing, careless brushing but you visit your dentist twice a year? Patients have their teeth in their mouth--24/7: putting food in your mouth continuously, not cleaning your mouth to remove food particles? Food particles are rotting in your mouth and along with the bacteria and this is moving all over you body and we know this can't be good. The damage from cigarettes alone has injured our bodies. You don't smoke? But what about the bacteria and the toxins roaming all over your body, this can't good. The best you can do is clean your mouth, teeth and remove the bacteria. Your significant other can also have gum disease. Close contact
transmits gum disease. Parents lack of good mouth care can affect their children.
Mouth care is major part of our office. We also work with those patients who have been in head and neck pain longer than 18 months. We work with TMJ patients but also work with patients who are still in pain.
Our office practices general dentistry.

Can braces make teeth become loose?
After your braces are removed, you are given a retainer to wear. While your bone around your teeth is becoming more dense, you need to wear the RETAINER 24/7. Most patients remove their RETAINERS when they eat. School lunch GARBAGE cans have been dumped LOOKING for a RETAINER THAT WAS ACCIDENTALLY THROWN OUT. A SEVERELY DISTRESSED STUDENT KNOWS IF THE RETAINER IS NOT FOUND, THE PARENTS WILL HAVE TO PAY $300 + TO REPLACE THE RETAINER. YOU BEING AN ADULT SHOULD EAT WITH THE RETAINER AND GO TO THE LADIES ROOM TO
RINSE YOUR RETAINER.
How long do you have to wear braces after your teeth are straight?
What happens if you don't wear your retainer for a month?
Will my teeth shift without a retainer for a week?
What do I do if my retainer doesn't fit anymore?
What is the best pain relief after tooth extraction?
How do you take care of your mouth after a tooth extraction?
Is having a dry socket dangerous?
NOT TO RINSE YOUR MOUTH FOR 24 HOURS AFTER THE EXTRACTION. IF YOUR TOOTH WAS EXTRACTED AT 4:00 P.M. THAT MEANS YOU SHOULD NOT BE RINSING UNTIL 4:00 P.M. THE NEXT DAY. RINSING SEVERAL TIMES A DAY WITH WARM SALT WATER; RINSING AFTER EATING IS A MUST. FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS HAVE SALT PACKETS AND COMPLIMENTARY CUPS. USE A TONGUE CLEANER FOR YOUR TONGUE.
THE BLOOD CLOT THAT FORMS IN YOUR EXTRACTION SITE IS THOUGHT TO PROTECT THE EXTRACTION SITE FROM A DRY SOCKET. TRY NOT TO EAT ON THE SIDE YOUR TOOTH WAS EXTRACTED. WHEN YOU EAT, FOOD PARTICLES MAY GET ON YOUR EXTRACTION SITE AND RINSING WILL REMOVE IT. WHETHER YOU HAVE SUTURES OR NOT, CHEWING ON THE EXTRACTION SITE IRRITATES IT.
THE PAIN OF A DRY SOCKET IS DISTRESSING ENOUGH. AS TO IF
A DRY SOCKET IS DANGEROUS. THERE ARE DIFFERENT VIEWS OF
DENTISTS. SOME THEORIES ARE THAT BACTERIA ARE INVOLVED. OTHERS BELIEVE IT'S THE SUFACE TISSUE OF THE SOCKET THAT LOST ITS BLOOD CLOT.
Can a tooth with a root canal hurt years later?
THERE WAS A TIME WHEN MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY BELIEVED THAT THE BODY COULD HANDLE ANYTHING. BACTERIAL, VIRAL AND FUNGAL THE HUMAN BODY WAS SO GOOD. THE LATEST RESEARCH IS NOW CENTERING ON INFECTIONS IN THE MOUTH AND TOTAL BODY HEALTH.
IN THE PAST MOST MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS BELIEVED THE MOUTH, TEETH HAD NO RELEVANCE TO THE REST OF THE BODY.
PATIENTS WITH SYSTEMIC DISEASES SUCH AS HEART DISEASE, UNCONTROLLED HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, INFECTION OF HIP AND KNEE IMPLANTS POST SURGERY.
WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONE BEAM DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY, DOCTORS WERE ABLE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE TIP OF ROOT CANALED TEETH(APEX).
IN THE PAST YOU ONLY HAD A TWO DIMENSIONAL IMAGE OF A THREE DIMENSIONAL OBJECT. YOU MAY HAVE GUM DISEASE THAT ALLOWED BACTERIA FROM YOUR MOUTH TO GET DOWN BELOW YOUR GUMLINE AND GET DOWN TO THE APEX OF YOUR TOOTH. BELOW YOUR LOWER TEETH AND ABOVE YOUR UPPER TEETH YOU HAVE LARGER BLOOD VESSELS THAT ONCE BACTERIA ENTER THESE VESSELS BACTERIA CAN BE CARRIED TO ORGANS VIA THE BLOOD VESSELS.
THERE WAS A TIME THAT IT WAS THOUGHT THAT OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM WAS ABLE TO HANDLE ANY INSULT.
YOU HAVE A DECISION THAT YOU HAVE TO MAKE ABOUT WHAT YOU WILL DO ABOUT YOUR ROOT CANALED TOOTH.
THE LATEST RESEARCH IS FOCUSED ON HOME CARE. PLAQUE FORMS EVERY DAY ON OUR TEETH. WHETHER WE EAT OR NOT PLAQUE FORMS. PLAQUE IS A STICKY WHITISH MASS OF BACTERIA. IF PLAQUE IS NOT REMOVED EVERY DAY BY
CORRECT FLOSSING AND CORRECT BRUSHING, PLAQUE WILL CRYSTALIZE IN 24-48 HOURS. CRYSTALLIZED PLAQUE MUST BE REMOVED WITH DENTAL INSTRUMENTS. THE DAMAGE OF NOT FLOSSING IS A SLOW PROCESS. WHAT NOT FLOSSING DOES TO DENTAL AND MEDICAL HEALTH IS JUST BECOMING EVIDENT.
Can you get a filling without an injection?
Do small cavities need to be filled?
What is the best way to clean dentures?
How does a salt water rinse help gums?
How can I make my tooth extraction heal faster?
How does smoking affect oral surgery?
How do you know if your filling is infected?
Can dentists fill cavities between teeth?
If plaque is not removed every day plaque will crystallize in 24 to 48 hours. In your saliva you have calcium and that calcium will harden.. hardened calcium is called CALCULUS or TARTAR. TARTAR AND PLAQUE ARE TWO DIFFERENT LAYERS. PLAQUE BACTERIA CAUSES THE MOST DAMAGE. PLAQUE BACTERIA CAN PENETRATE TARTAR AND GETS CLOSE TO YOUR TEETH. PLACQUE BACTERIA INITIATES YOUR BODY'S IMMUNE RESPONSE. TARTAR IS MORE OF AN PHYSICAL IRRITANT. PLAQUE BACTERIA CAUSES A CHEMICAL CASCADE THAT SLOWLY DISSOLVES TOOTH SUPPORTING MEMBRANES AND BONE.
