The first thing you should do is have a complete eye exam to exclude a serious eye problem such as glaucoma. The other common causes could be dry eye, blocked tear duct, infection, eyelid problems (too numerous to list), etc. Get an eye exam by an ophthalmologist (not at the mall!).
