I think you had a pre-existing condition (mental or physical) that the acupuncture may have made you aware of but wasn't the cause. You may have an anxiety disorder. How is your sleep? Did you seek Acupuncture or was it part of a treatment (like work Comp.) It could also have been existing nerve damage, do you have any numbness in your hands?
