I am assuming you are getting braces on all of your upper teeth, not just 2 front teeth.  Often in adults with overbites, the orthodontist will recommend extracting 2 premolars to allow the front 6 teeth to be straightened and retracted to improve alignment and overbite.  If this sounds similar to your situation, it sounds right.  Of course, I don't have access to your diagnostic records.

But since the top and bottom teeth need to match up or occlude in a certain way, it may help to have braces on the lower teeth also. Talk with the orthodontist and see what your options are. I tell my patients that I work for them, as long as they understand the limitations of single arch treatment, and the benefits of comprehensive treatment.  

I am diabetic and have to undergo an orthodontic treatment. Will my diabetes affect my healing process?

If your diabetes is undercontrol, it shouldn't affect your orthodontic treatment.
