How can I find out what this pain is?

If you have not seen a gastroenterologist make an appointment. That would be my next move.

Jeffery P. Jones, D.C.

Burning in my left hip should I go to the doctors?

This is not normal, especially in a person of your age. See your M.D. first and if they have no answers, see a chiropractor.

Stand in front of a full-length mirror in your skivvies, relaxed with equal weight on both feet. Look and see if one side of the pelvis is higher than the other, if your head is tilted to one side, and if one shoulder is higher than the other. If you find one hip higher than the other with one or more of the other two, bingo. Also, you can lay face down and have someone check your leg length. If one is shorter, that is another positive finding. A misaligned pelvis can cause spinal curvature, lower back pain, and leg pain.

Yes, it is very safe. Children respond well to chiropractic care. My youngest patient was 3 weeks old with colic. One adjustment and it cleared up within 24 hours and never came back. It helps to improve immune system response, early detection and correction of scoliosis, and improves coordination and cognitive skills.

During the adjustment, the attempt is being made to move the out of aligned vertebra back to its normal position, reducing joint fixation therefore improving mobility, alleviating muscle and ligament tension, and most of all, relieving nerve root irritation.

Do chiropractors really move bones?

They definitely do. All day long. If bones didn't move, we would walk around like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz!

What does a misaligned spine look like?

It is hard to explain. Go online and look for spinal misalignment or scoliosis.

Jeffery P. Jones, D.C.

How can I adjust my wrists myself?

There is no way. Only a licensed chiropractor can do that. Takes two hands to adjust a wrist.

Doc J

Why do my wrists hurt?

Even though you are young, it could be a sign of arthritis. I would see an orthopedic who specializes in upper extremities.

Sinus problems and headaches can be attributed to a subluxation, i.e., misalignment of the occipital condyles, the first or the second cervical vertebrae or a combination of the three. Nerve irritation caused by one or more of these articulations can lead to your problem. The chiropractor will simply realign those areas to relieve the nerve irritation.

Yours in health,

Doc J

Can chiropractors adjust fingers?

Yes. Most chiropractors can adjust every articulating joint in the body. Some even do cranial sutures.

Jeffery P. Jones, D.C.

Why does cracking my back feel good?

By increasing joint mobility, releasing muscle tension and nerve stimulation.

Jeffery P. Jones, D.C.

How do you professionally crack someone's back?

No disrespect, but you don't "crack" someone's back. If you are successful in doing so, you probably broke something. For the untrained to try and adjust another person's back or neck, the probability of a positive outcome is very small and the possibility of a negative outcome such as permanent injury, a person becoming paralyzed or even death is very great. Sometimes there can be underlying conditions that can only be detected by examination and X-rays, which would contraindicate spinal manipulation. If you want to be a professional in doing this, I suggest looking at the Life University requirements on their website for obtaining a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. It's not easy, but you will be able to help people in ways that no other profession can accomplish. No drugs or surgery needed. It's a great feeling.

Tendonitis is caused by repetitive movement of the same muscle group. If it is the elbow which I am sure it is the first thing is to brace it with an elbow brace called Band-it. You can find it on amazon. Then the best way I have found to get rid of tendonitis is light stretching and weight lifting exercises to work the affected muscle/tendon including all of those adjacent in the same muscle group. Therapeutic laser treatment will also help to heal it in reduced time.

First, if you have been told bed rest and heating pads, don't do it. That will make it worse. Direct heat increases swelling and inflammation. Short periods of walking, ice packs, hot Epsom salt baths, and mild stretching exercises will help, but that should be under professional instructions. The quickest way I know is to find a chiropractor that offers spinal decompression therapy in conjunction with spinal mobilization treatments. It would also be helpful if your M.D. is willing to co-treat by providing you with anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxers. FYI, medication treats the symptoms, chiropractic treats the cause.
