Holiday celebrations and visiting friends and family often disrupt our workout routines. Try as you might we usually gain pounds and inches during the holidays. I find it more difficult to lose these unwanted holiday reminders as I get older. If you have found it more difficult to lose those unwanted bulges then you may be a good candidate for liposuction.

There are non-invasive treatments for fat reduction that you can try at local spas. These machines either freeze or disrupt fat cells. The broken cells are then eliminated from our bodies as waste. Patients may lose up to an inch or two with each treatment. If having multiple sessions and waiting for the fat to be eliminated are not for you then liposuction may be the answer. Liposuction can treat all your problem areas in one procedure. Patients are asleep and return home after a short recovery. Most patients are out of work for up to a week and your results are evident the day after surgery. Complete healing, however, requires a few months and some patients may have swelling longer than this.  If a small area is treated than most patients miss only a day or two of work.

Liposuction is not a weight reduction tool. The ideal patient has fatty problem areas but they are close to their normal weight. If your skin has been stretched out then skin removal may be necessary. A scar is substituted for the loose skin. Scars are placed in areas that are covered by cloths or in natural creases.

Popular areas for liposuction are the trunk, arms, legs, and under the chin. Fat that has been removed can be used to augment areas that have lost fat. The face and the buttock are the most common areas that are fat grafted. The recovery from fat grafting is similar to liposuction.

Patients need to be in good health and not on any medication that may thin the blood.
