First off, there is no medical cure for tinnitus, so why not try chiropractic, which is a non-invasive treatment that comes with benefits like increase in immunity? Tinnitus is usually a symptom of injury to spinal joints and temperomandibular joint of the jaw of TMJ. These two can be corrected with chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work. Another thing to remember that tinnitus can possibly be due to a vitamin B deficiency as well as caused by certain medications you may be taking. A good chiropractor knows to assess you for all of these possibilities.

In my experience, in America an osteopath is a medical doctor with the difference of a DO at the end of their name versus an MD. Traditionally and still in Europe, the DO was quite like the chiropractor, but specialized in long lever adjustments with an emphasis on circulation and bowels while chiropractors traditionally focused on specific adjustments and nervous system balance. Over my 20 years of chiropractic, I have seen my profession evolve into trying to teach people about proper spinal alignment for the benefit of health maintenance of the body, which enables it to heal itself while incorporating natural foods, exercise, circulation, meditation, and an all around healthy lifestyle.

Chiropractic care is typically very highly favored by the patient.

The answer to this question is a resounding yes! The nervous system is more irritable based on any extra stimuli that’s placed on the body. Chiropractic adjustments not only reduce tension and that irritable stimuli in the body and the joints, but it also relaxes the entire nervous system. On top of that most chiropractors are trained in nutrition and how to relax the body and remove irritants from that food point of view. Chiropractic adjustment also affects the body by increasing immune system cells post adjustment, and decreasing cortisol levels. So yes, your child should be adjusted. I hope this helps!

Hi! Cervical disc disease can be treated in older adults, however, because of their age and degeneration it does take a little bit longer than it would with younger folks as you can imagine. We do similar things like traction muscle work and light physical therapy. Any kind of strengthening of the muscles and relaxing of knots in the tissue will provide more space for the desk and therefore less pressure on the nerves. This all equals less symptomatology for the patient, i.e., less pain. Some 80-year-olds are far more in shape than others, so individual treatments are individualized based on the patient themselves. There is hope! I hope that answer helps.

Hi. You may be experiencing some swelling or building of scar tissue that is starting to “squeeze “ the part of the nerve that gives sensation to the area that you are experiencing the numbness. What treatment did you receive for your elbow? Is the sensation directly in the area or is it possible that due to your initial trauma, the nerve could be getting crushed some where else along the line, like the shoulder or neck. In order to reduce the pressure on the nerve currently, find a good doctor of chiropractic who does muscle work and collaborates with a physical therapist, and willing to collaborate with your Orthopaedic. I am partial to multiple specialties and multiple opinions working together on each patient because every expertise “brings something to the table”. This equals well rounded care for you. If you would like to supply me with more information on your issue, please contact my front desk. 973-744-9880

Mom may be having essential tremors or intention tremors. Intention tremors would be when she starts to shake when she intentionally goes to move. Some tremors are part of an aging neurological system and are relatively “normal”. A neurological work-up may be in order. Sometimes medications can cause tremors. If Mom is on any medication, I would go directly to the pharmacist and ask. Pharmacists know the ins and outs of “why” a medication does what it does and should be able to tell you if it may cause tremors. You can look online but medical practitioners can usually access side effects on a pharmaceutical website that the lay person cannot. As a doctor of Natural medicine, I prefer to send the patient for a neurological workup to make sure there is no life threatening condition. In the meantime, I like to try to stop any inflammatory process through diet, bloodwork and exercise. Weak postural muscles can cause some tremors and well as dehydration and blood sugar issues. I am quite partial to a high, “good-fat” diet when it comes to the brain as the brain is mostly cholesterol and the good fats that wrap the nerves of the body in order to improve nerve conduction. Essentially this means you need fat for a healthy nervous system. Moving more to a Ketogenic or paleo type diet would be ideal, as both these diets decrease inflammatory sugars and carbohydrates. The Ketogenic type diets have proven quite helpful for the brain. Feel free to contact my office. 973-744-9880. Yours in health, Dr Kim Carlucci

Did you have the elbow re-imaged since you have more/new pain? If so and all is in place, find yourself a good physical therapist. You want to retain full range of motion and produce the least amount of scar tissue and adhesions which can alter the movement of the joint as well as compress the nerve in your elbow. First thing to do is make sure it gets cleared as a successful surgery.
