Dr. Nella Shapiro is a board-certified general surgeon who serves as the Director of Breast Surgery at New York Cancer & Blood Specialists' Eastchester Center for Breast Care, located in Bronx, New York. She specializes in all facets of surgery, with a special focus on breast cancer care. Previously, Dr. Shapiro had been an assistant clinical professor in the surgery departments at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Jack D. Weiler Hospital, where she was also the associate director of surgery and introduced the technique of laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Dr. Nella Shapiro graduated from Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine, earning her medical degree. She then went on to complete her internship and residency at Montefiore Hospital Medical Center, becoming the first woman to complete the general surgery residency there. A proud fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Shapiro holds privileges at Montefiore Hospital Medical Center. Due to her outstanding work throughout her career, she has been awarded with a number of recognitions and accolades, including On-Time Doctor Award in 2018, Compassionate Doctor Recognition from 2011-2018, and Patients’ Choice Award from 2010-2018.
