The colonoscopy is not usually painful!. The worst part is the prep--- not a great tasting drink and it does make go. You want a great prep so please complete the instructions for preparation. You usually receive sedating medication so that you are asleep during the procedure. Usually after the procedure, no pain; maybe a few stomach cramps as you pass air. Rest after the procedure and your usually ready to be back to regular duties the following day. Hope this info helps. Dr. Tamara J Merchant-McCambry
