It is possible for lumbar spine pathology to cause leg pain. Most commonly, this is due to irritation of the nerve roots that exit the lumbar spine and run down the legs (i.e. pinched nerve(s)). The medical term for this is lumbar radiculopathy. If severe enough, it can become if a medical emergency called cauda equina syndrome. One symptom of this condition is inability to control bladder or bowel function. If this occurs, you should be seen in the local ED immediately. Otherwise, I'd suggest seeing a local physician for further evaluation and management.
