A total hip replacement is a wonderful procedure which has very little postoperative pain. You should be allowed to ambulate full weight bearing immediately after the surgery. We usually tell people to allow the soft tissues to recover for about 6 weeks. At that time, you should be able to begin resuming activities as tolerated.
